The Decision of the Eye
The exhibition of works by fellow artists Henri Cartier-Bresson and Alberto Giacometti in summer 2005 marked HSBC Guyerzeller Bank AG's artistic debut at Kunsthaus Zurich.

French photographer and artist Henri Cartier Bresson and curator Tobia Bezzola developed the concept for the exhibition, which is due to be Henri Cartier-Bresson's last.
The works are a tableau of how two related vantage points have crossed paths during the decades. Cartier-Bresson is most famous for his photographs of Alberto Giacometti compiled over the course of three decades. However, the intimacy of this long-standing artistic friendship is reflected far more clearly in their parallel photographic journey in pursuit of the "decisive moment", as well as in their artistic approach to portraits, still lifes and landscapes.
The exhibition brought together works borrowed from international public and private collections, as well as pieces owned by the Alberto Giacometti Foundation in Zurich.
